Punjab College of Education is one of the première institutions in teacher education in the country. Punjab College of Education is committed towards its mission to make quality the defining element through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, promotion and sustenance initiatives. One area of distinctiveness related to college mission, priority interest is its creating an eco-friendly clean and green campus and adopting environment sustainable practices. One step in this direction formation of herbal garden in the college campus. The herbal garden was establishing in year 2019. The herbal garden consist of several medicinal and herbal plants such as: Aloevera, Mint, Lemon, Lemon grass, Amla etc. New plants of different species are periodically are added to the garden.

Objectives of Herbal Garden:

  1. To encourage and promote students to introduce the herbal garden concept.
  2. To inculcate the sense of familiarity with surrounding, bio-diversity and its conservation especially herbal plants.
  3. To educate students in identifying different types of herbs and their uses including growing them in a garden.
  4. To encourage students to use herbs in food.
  5. To develop environmental awareness and positive attitude towards environment among students.

The mission of the Punjab College of Education is impart quality education to young graduates and to develop them into successful and skillful professionals capable of meeting global challenges. Through quality education the institutions targets holistic and all round development of the students. Keeping quality education in mind following areas is focused by the institution.

  1. Excellent infrastructure facilities

The college has excellent infrastructure facilities and Wi-Fi enabled campus. The infrastructure facilities includes Psychology lab, Computer lab, Language lab, Science and Maths lab, Music lab, Activity and Resource room, S.St. lab, Multipurpose hall, Playground, Seminar room, ICT enabled class rooms etc.

  1. Library facilities

The library is fully automated with Wi-Fi connection. No of Text books7537, Reference books 2286, Journal 8. The library has lib guru software installed. 

  1. Providing conducive learning environment.

Punjab College of Education provides conducive learning environment to the students. Both theoretical and practical knowledge is providing to the students.

  1. Faculty development programmes

Online workshop was conducted for the staff members on the topic of online teaching methodology.

  1. Eco friendly campus

The college has eco-friendly campus spread in 15 acres land area with aesthetic and elegant buildings, beautiful lawns, spacious playground and lush green environment conducive for teaching learning process. The built-up area of the college has classrooms, labs, administrative block, storage areas, canteen, multipurpose hall etc. The open spaces have lawns, parking spaces, herbal garden, open walking passages, playground etc. The campus is with sufficient green cover in the form of trees, lawns and potted plants.

  1. Campus Management

The college has a stated policy and procedure for waste management. The institute realizes sustainable and holistic waste management essential in reducing its environmental fool printing and providing a safe and healthy work environment for teaching and non-teaching staff, students and visitors. The institute ensures that all the campus waste are disposed of responsibly by using proper waste segregation mechanism at the source and converting it into valuable environment friendly product. There are separate colored bins for dry (blue) and wet (green) waste. Plastic is totally banned in the campus.

  1. E-Waste Management

The college takes care of the safe disposal of e-waste such as camera, hard disk, mobiles, printers, UPS, laptops, CPU, mouse, scanner, cables, old computers, electrical switches, LCD Monitor, photo copier, fax Machines, pumps and other miscellaneous items. E-waste is collected in the e-waste dustbin kept in the corridor. Students are discouraged to generate e-waste. Assignments and presentations in the form of CD’s are avoided from the students. In place of CD’s students are advised to use pen-drives. 

  1. Research Policy

The college publish research journal “Educational Spectrum” every year. To retain and motivate the faculty and the students to undertake research projects in thriving areas of education, management, psychology and technology. Following incentives are provided by the college.
