Value added course on life skill

  • Introduction about the course

The term’ life skills’ refers to the skills you need to make the most out of life. Any skill that is useful in your life can be considered a life skill. Tying your shoe laces, swimming, driving a car and using a computer are, for most people, useful life skills. Psychologists believe that all of us are endowed with capacities to excel. Life skills help in realization and utilization of our potentials. Sometimes, with all capacities, goals and determinations, we fail in realization of our dreams because of hindrances created by poor life skills.

The world health organization defines life-skills as, “abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life”. Thus, life-skills are basic skill that helps individuals in leading a meaningful life and better adjustment in the society. The development of child can be made possible by keeping all aspects of their personality in mind .This is the reason why in life skill education plays an important role in everyone’s life .In life skill education,  the overall personality of child is taken into consideration.

 

  • Objectives of Life Skill Course:-

 

  1. It is specially designed to enhance efforts to positively develop and change behaviour, it is not concentrated on providing information only.
  2. Play an important role in independent living.
  3. Development needs & aspirations of the individuals. Development of psychosocial abilities.
  4. To enhance capabilities and enlarge choices.
  5. To build different dimensions of well-being, by building self- image & self-worth,which in turn help individuals to be less vulnerable to the variations within a given context.
  6. Promotes the development of positive self – esteem and teaches anger control.
  7. Ensure the less development misconceptions regarding issues such as drugs and alcoholism.
  8. It focuses on knowledge, attitudes and skills.

 

  • Criteria for Certificate

 

Students, who will score 60% in written test and 40% in assignment and quiz, will be eligible for the E-certificate.
